About the Course
The Peewee/Bantam Total Hockey Skills Clinic is meticulously designed for young hockey players eager to enhance their individual skills in skating, puck control, and shooting. This program focuses on the fundamental skills necessary to excel on the ice, providing a comprehensive and engaging experience that challenges players to reach their full potential.
Key Components:
Skating Mastery:
Each session emphasizes various aspects of skating, including cross-overs, acceleration, agility, edge control, stopping, power turns, and efficient stride techniques. Players will practice these skills both with and without the puck, ensuring they develop the ability to move fluidly in any situation. Coaches will provide targeted feedback to help players refine their technique and increase their overall skating proficiency.
Puck Control and Stick Handling:
Players will engage in specialized drills focused on improving their stick handling and puck control. This includes exercises that enhance their ability to maneuver the puck under pressure, develop quick hands, and maintain possession while skating at speed. By integrating puck control with skating techniques, athletes will learn to keep the puck close and make effective plays in dynamic situations.
Shooting Skills:
The clinic features high-tempo shooting drills designed to combine skating and puck control with effective shooting techniques. Players will participate in “Shoot to Score” drills that emphasize accuracy, power, and quick release, ensuring they can capitalize on scoring opportunities during games. These drills will help reinforce the shooting mechanics learned in each session.
Game Situational Plays:
Understanding game concepts is critical for developing a well-rounded player. Each session will incorporate game situational plays that allow participants to apply their skills in realistic scenarios. This includes drills that simulate game situations, helping players improve their decision-making, positioning, and teamwork.
High-Tempo Environment:
The clinic is designed to push players to the edge of their abilities in a fast-paced, competitive environment. With a focus on maintaining high energy and intensity, participants will be challenged to improve their skills while developing mental toughness and resilience.
